The Newlands Water Protective Association is a non-profit corporation formed in 1993 whose purpose is to protect and defend the water and hydropower rights of the water right owners of the Newlands Reclamation Project in Northwestern Nevada.

NWPA primarily represents farmers, but the leadership includes individuals from all walks of life including educators, lawyers, administrators and scientists.

Through the contributions of its members, NWPA has compiled the funds to begin a legal defense against challenges ot all water transfers since 1984. The current court battles represent an enormous financial drain to contend with what seems almost the limitless fiscal support of the opponents by federal resources. It is an unfairly imbalanced contest that could, in legal costs alone, bankrupt some of the members, regardless of their just position in the dispute.

Annual membership fees are based on the amount of water righted acreage you own. Upon receipt of your application, you will begin receiving our quarterly newsletter, Newlands News, and a membership sticker to proudly display on your vehicle or place of business.
